Elegant and ethereal but also precise and geometric, Laxmi Hussain’s drawings and watercolours exist somewhere between the abstract and the realistic, often presenting what appear to be the free-flowing organic forms of nature through intricately ordered patterns. Her finely detailed line forms are rooted in a fascination with architecture, a subject she studied for several years before becoming disillusioned with the constraints and rigidity of the discipline and shifting her focus to the unconstrained creative possibilities offered by art.
Laxmi has been drawing for as long as she can remember. As a child in London, she would lose hours after school, sketching on the counter in her dad’s corner shop. But it is only since the birth of her first child, that Laxmi has turned her passion into a profession. Re-inspired by the irrepressible joy in creativity shown by her children, she picked up the pencil once again, finding artwork to be a valuable means of reclaiming her own identity amid the emotional blurrings of motherhood.
Her inspiration comes from the forms encountered in everyday life, from the patterns of home interiors, the natural shapes of the outdoors and the geometries of architecture. Working in several different media, usually at night, Laxmi is driven by experimentation, constantly exploring new techniques and searching for the shapes and subjects they express best. Often, her work includes elements that appear incomplete, obliging the viewer to pause and engage with the artwork, filling in the absences themselves rather than just dismissing it and moving on.
Farah Rising has been practicing as well as guiding women on sensual dance journeys for many years after sensual dance profoundly transformed her relationship to her body, sexuality and her self-confidence.
Her journey was one of rising through many layers of ancestral and religious shame towards her own body and sensuality. It is her greatest passion to help womxn experience the liberation waiting within sensual dance.
Her intention is to create nourishing slow and gentle containers for womxn to unravel, unrushed, going at the pace of their individual intelligent bodies – as she trusts every bodies’ intelligence above all and is devoted to honouring that.
She sees dance as a prayer to the divine and our bodies as a temple through which we can surrender to the light within. Farah is also a trained 200hr Yoga Teacher, Energy Healer, Women’s Coach and Meditation Teacher..
Regina Rhythm is a Spanish medicine woman based in London who believes in music as the divine language to connect with spirit and as a powerful tool to deliver a message of peace and unity in the world.
From her many journeys around the world since her early 20’s, she learnt the power of drumming and ceremony from indigenous cultures and the essential role it plays in the community.
She weaves tribal rhythms, hypnotic chants and ancient mantras along her flamenco roots, creating a unique, uplifting and sensual sound to connect to the primal energy of creation, the heart beat, the pulse of mother Earth, the very essence of life. She has a flair for uplifting the vibrations wherever she goes, creating a space that invites to relax and enjoy the present moment as a precious gift.
She is well known by the London community after sharing her work in all backgrounds for over 20 years. During the last couple of years, on top of her solo, she has performed on stage with acclaimed conscious grammy award artists Deva Premal and Miten with Manose, Jai Uttal, Jahnavi Harrison and Sam Garrett.
She has recently released her first single “La Medicina’ recorded in California by award winning producer Ben Leinbach. Her medicine song to bring us together singing for Mother Earth and the elements of nature; which has brought lots of attention in these times where we are coming back to reconnect with our planet.
