Join SYC and Michael, Founder of The Herball, for an evening celebrating India and the influence of India and Ayurveda on Western Herbalism looking at ancient, traditional and contemporary herbal practices.
We will get to understand some of the key herbs / plants and their influences, including plants such as Ashwagandha, Shatavari & Tulsi.
Journeying through the traditional and contemporary uses of spices for health with a close look at cinnamon / cardamom / black pepper / ginger & turmeric and their constituents and how best to integrate them into daily life.
We will discover how to make the perfect turmeric tinctures and preparations (with and without alcohol). We’ll also prepare our own bottled Vedic tonics, attars and perfumes, with a closer look at scents such as sandalwood & tuberose. All participants will take home the ultimate turmeric tincture or attar.
Michael Isted is a trained phytotherapist (BSc Hons), aromatherapist and nutritionist who started up his company The Herball in 2013. Michael set up The Herball as a portal to promote and celebrate the many ways in which we can integrate plants and plant preparations to invigorate and enrich our lives. Michael works closely with a number of small independent organic growers and plant workers in the UK, Europe & India to source, produce and sell authentic, artisanal plant based products, such as infusions, aromatic waters, spices, extracts, and oils.
