“In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy.” — William Blake
Gather with SYC and KIND on this chilly evening to honour the Winter Solstice.
The Winter Solstice marks the day with the shortest period of daylight and the longest night, in essence the rebirth of a new year. It’s an opportunity to celebrate darkness and acknowledge the paths we have made and experienced as the year comes to a close.
It’s an invitation to open ourselves up to the gentle stillness of the colder months, which invite us to regroup and draw in so that we may reflect to radiate. Like our ancestors, we will celebrate this special night with movement, laughter, yoga, singing and sound healing.
Together with the beautiful KIND sisters, we’ll lead you on a journey, beginning with a heated flow seamlessly transferring into guided movement, elation and dancing. This will wind down into a deep, healing sound bath, nourishing our cellular anatomy, sonically washing tension and blockages so that we can receive the new year with intention and kindness.
Awakening you back with a warming chia, we’ll delve into the world of song with simple, heart opening mantras and kirtan led by Jayna and Bess. Bringing you together with loving care, to warm your spirits and souls before the festivities begin.
All levels are welcome, no movement, voice or yoga experience is needed. Just an open mind.
Jayna originally trained as a dancer before falling in love with Yoga in India in 2010. Her experience from dance and her various training around the world have given her classes a unique style with a focus on loving the self.
Jayna started teaching at KIND Yoga 4 years ago. Her classes range from slow, connected flows, to dynamic vinyasa practices, whatever is needed in the moment to integrate the body, mind and heart. Her focus is on the connection to the spirit in combination with strength of the body and correct alignment. Jayna’s KIND classes nourish and support whoever is on the mat, whether you are a total beginner or experienced Yogi. Music plays a big importance in her practice whether in the form of live music, playlists, mantras or group soundings.
Gabrielle has been teaching for seven years and her offering has slowly evolved with her practise. Her priority is to create a compassionate space for people to explore their physical landscape and breath as portal into the energy body and the subtler realms within and without.
She teaches a slow, mindful flow, prefaced with some kind of pranayama to draw people to the innerworld. She’s interested in finding different ways to explore the body, seeking different words to communicate and new experiences to awaken. She closes classes singing with crystal bowls, to create a nourishing space for people to soften more deeply into themselves.
Gabrielle started Secret Yoga Club four years ago to gather a community of people who are interested in discovering themselves through creative, multidimensional experiences. SYC supports its ever growing family of practitioners and treasures on going working relationships. It seeks to evolve endlessly and introduce different healing modalities to its expanding community of beautiful, inquisitive people.
