“You know that our breathing is the inhaling and exhaling of air. The organ that serves for this is the lungs that lie round the heart, so that the air passing through them thereby envelops the heart. Thus breathing is a natural way to the heart. And so, having collected your mind within you, lead it into the channel of breathing through which air reaches the heart and, together with this inhaled air, force your mind to descend into the heart and to remain there. “

–  Nicephorus the Solitary

The breath is the key to unlocking the mystery and moving with the divine.
When we focus & draw this power closer to us, we begin to step through into a whole new reality.

For this workshop, healer and teacher Jessi Brown will begin with a meditation, leading into a guided breath work – influenced by traditional Japanese breathing exercises that have been adapted for everyday use. This process re-calibrates and rebalances the nervous system, and increases the alkaline and serotonin levels in the body.

You’ll then move, simply yet wholly, through a slow-focused, meditative practice that will draw you deep into your own body, so you can really steep in your own wisdom, allowing you to attune further to the language of the breath and body.

Before the evening closes, Mona Rujis of Sound Interventions with bathe you in healing sounds, sealing in your intentions.

*Please note that journaling will be encouraged after the breathing session, before the movement meditation, so please bring a pen and paper to the workshop.

Jessi teaches a breath based practice which is a slow, yet strong and connected flow.

She is primarily interested in creating a safe, openhearted space to go deeper into the connection with the body. Activating its incredible innate power to self regulate and heal. Her attention on breath is to help guide the mind towards uniting with the deep wisdom of the body to cultivate a harmony between the two.

As a teacher she shares what she enjoys, what she has experienced and explored in her own body and that which has spoken to her.

Jessi believes in the exchange of energies, that we are all teachers and lessons lie in the most unexpected places if we train ourselves to be open to receive.

Mona is a certified Gong Practitioner trained by ‘The College of Sound Healing’ in Devon, UK. Mona invites participants to ‘close your eyes and open your ears’, as she curates a unique experience into sound and the senses, and an exploration of ‘the listening body’. Mona will facilitate a Sound Bath with a trajectory of sounds that are designed to induce states of profound physical relaxation, meditation and general wellbeing.

In her Sound Baths the terms ‘sound’ and ‘listening’ are inclusive of sensations felt when vibrations fall onto the human body, as the Gongs are capable of setting a substantial volume of air into vibration. Laying down on mats participants will be saturated and cocooned in the live sounds of high quality Gongs and other instruments including Himalayan singing bowls, a shruti box, a sansula, chimes, rainsticks,  and bamboo leaf rattles.
