25.01.18 – 28.01.18
Astrology searches for meaning in the sky, as it explores the meaningful connection between the movements of the planets and the inner world of human consciousness and motivation. It’s a language that describes the very energies that activate us. It opens up a space to connect and reflect on our thoughts, beliefs, feelings, interests and concerns, between other things.
Astrology gives us a sense of perspective and a means of gaining awareness on our lives. It provides a path where our deepest feelings and unconscious yearnings may be brought to awareness and given form. It enables us to connect with our inner strengths and to use the power of thought, will and creative vitality to mold a better way of being.
The Retreat Programme
This retreat falls at a potent time for the stars. There are many exciting things to work with.
The retreat will happen just before the Eclipse season at the end of January, so it will be a brilliant time to prepare for change, for expansion and evolution of the self.
There is an incredible energy of beauty (sun/venus), depth (mercury/pluto) and expansion (Mars in sag) at this time. Ideal for rituals, to really connect with the transformative power of our bodies. By holding our bodies and embracing it beauty.
We’ll look to the skies to return to our bodies and reconnect to our hearts. How can you experience astrology through the body? There is a geology of the body. The root chakra is the first chakra and it’s element is earth, the second is water and as you move up the chakras, they become more subtle.
We are a microcosm of the whole universe, our bodies are made of remnants of stars and massive explosions in the galaxies. Then of course we can plug into the universe and connect, if we are open to it. Through meditation, dancing, yoga, plant medicine, it makes beautiful sense that the stars are echoed in our body and mind.
What makes you feel alive? What are you searching for? How creative is your life and in which way? Are you happy? Are you expressing your potential? Who are you? What of who you are is real?
We are all artists, we are all designing who we are, every choice we made is an act of unique expression of the self.
MADELEINE BOTET DE LACAZE
Madeleine is an Argentine-born performance artist and astrologer based in London. After studying and developing astrology and performance as two separate practices she decided to integrate them creating Astrology for Artists. She believes that everyone is an artist and our lives an artistic act. She aims to communicate and reflect upon what makes us creative and what makes us feel alive; how do we connect with our vital expressive pulse?
Our own astrological natal chart is a sacred space – a map of the sky that is in constant movement – that is vibrating and showing us the energy that is available to us, but are we harnessing its potential? Madeleine believes in change and transformation, in communicating through sharing and connecting. And most of all, in our resilient body and our restless creative mind working together and allowing us to fully express ourselves.
She studied astrology at CASA 11 in Buenos Aires and at the Faculty of Astrological Studies in London. She also did an MA in Performance Art at Wimbledon College of Art focusing on the body’s relationship to identity, belonging and presence; creating intimate interdisciplinary performances that question our perception of corporality.
It took a stint at a corporate global PR agency for Gabrielle Hales to realise that no, office life was not for her. One ticket to India later, she found herself teaching yoga and eager to share all the amazing things she’d learnt upon her return.
Beginning with classes in her own living room, the word spread and these events became so popular that she sought out ever-more exciting venues to host events in, bringing an extra element by working with up-and-coming chefs to expand them into yoga supper clubs.
Elements of immersive sound therapy and live music soon followed as part of Gabrielle’s mission to introduce a new sense of warmth and generosity to the yoga community – creating a new setting for yoga practice that was more sociable and less solitary, while breaking the assumption that a healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy nourishing food.
Now? Gabrielle’s pushing SYC to the next level, aiming to inspire people to experience practices that improve happiness and well-being. Oh, and with plenty of fun, too.
